Today it’s christmas eve in germany (I can not believe that it is already that time of year ;-)). So first of all I wish you a magical christmas with joy, coziness and peace!

Do you know the penguins from Mama Elephant? I can definitely say, I love these penguins. They are perfect for quick made christmas cards. Because of my little free time, I had to create a lot of quick made christmas cards the last days ;-). I think I made five or six cards with this funny penguins. Today I would like to show you the first two of them.

In the last days I tried out more projects with the „distress“ technique to get more practice creating this beautiful even backgrounds. I had read that the right paper is very important. So I tried out the watercolor paper from Derwent*. It works great for intensive colors. But I think for less intensive backgrounds it works not as well, because it needs a lot of ink color to get an even finish. If you have a tip for the „right“ paper, let me know :-). Someone who distresses masterly is Melania Deasy. Take a look at her blog, it is worth it :-).

But now to the first card: I distressed a water color paper with the Distress Ink „fired brick“. Then I punched out the paper with the „Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables“ Die from Lawn Fawn.

I punched out the snowy scene on the front of the card with the „Scallop Borders“ cutting die from Pretty Pink Posh. I stamped the penguins, colored them with copics and punched them out with the corresponding cutting dies.

Der Schriftzug „Merry Christmas“ entstand ebenfalls mittels Stanze („Merry Christmas Script“) von Simon Says Stamp aus goldenem Glitzerpapier.

The sentiment „Merry Christmas“ was created with the „Merry Christmas Script“ cutting die from Simon Says Stamp and gold glittery paper.

Wirklich schnell gemacht :-).

At last I glued the red background on a cardbase and then added the snow scene, the penguins and the sentiment onto it. A really quick made card :-).

For the background of the second card I distressed the Distress Inks „fired brick“ and „mowed lawn“ on a watercolor paper. Then I sprinkled a little bit of water with a brush onto the paper and dabbed it with a tissue. This way I created the irregular spots.

I created the frame with the „Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX“ die-namic from My Favourite Things. I stamped the penguins and the sheets of ice, colored them with copics and cut them out with the corresponding cutting dies.

For the sentiment I used the „Merry Christmas Script“ cutting die from Simon Says Stamp again. For this one I used white cardstock.

Fertig :-).

At the end I glued everything together onto a cardbase. That’s all :-).
